Clean Water

Water Is Life

Providing Clean Water Is Crucial For Several Reasons:

Health and Sanitation: In the rare chance that it does rain, ponds form and the water is shared with wild and domestic animals. Clean water is essential for preventing deadly waterborne diseases like cholera and typhoid, which claim too many lives every year in these remote regions.

Children’s Safety: Digging 8-10 feet in dry riverbeds to access water claims the lives of dozens of children annually, tragically burying them alive in the sand. Children gathering at the hole’s edge are often engulfed by collapsing sides, vanishing without a trace. The wells that CRI provides reduce these fatalities by removing the necessity to dig deep into the sand for water.

Education: Water accessibility breaks the cycle of poverty and boosts education. Children, often girls, spend hours every day fetching water from distant sources, impacting school attendance. Wells reduce this burden, especially for girls, improving educational opportunities.

Conflict Mitigation: Scarce water resources often spark deadly conflicts among tribes. By ensuring reliable access to clean water, well drilling projects help ease tensions and foster peaceful coexistence among diverse tribal populations.

Each well that we drill varies in price from $25k to $35k depending on the depth of the well
and how far into the bush we need to travel.
